We can announce that we have been welcomed into the Maternal Mental Health Alliance as a member organisation.
The Maternal Mental Health Alliance brings together national organisations to advocate for change and ensure that all women and families impacted by perinatal mental health problems have access to high quality, compassionate care and support.
We look forward to working with other member organisations to amplify your voices, demonstrate the plethora of military maternal mental health experiences, and advocate for change which reflects the nuances of military life. Thank you to the Alliance for recognising the importance of our mission, understanding the power of peer support and allowing us to take our place alongside the other incredible member organisations.

Amplifying the military parental mental health voice right to the very top .

The perinatal period is such a vulnerable time for the mental health of any new parent, but particularly if you are having to do battle with substandard housing at the same time. We’ve experienced it (no boiler for the first couple of weeks with my second born ), and we know so many of you will have too.

We couldn’t stand back and not communicate our thoughts about it to the Defence Subcommittee, who are conducting an inquiry into service accommodation. We are pleased to say they have accepted and published our evidence on their website.

We were honoured to be invited to attend the ‘March for Mothers’ event at Parliament - a powerful gathering of voices from across the maternal mental health sector, including Laura Kyrke-Smith MP, the organisers of World Maternal Mental Health Day, Sport in Mind, and fellow members of the Maternal Mental Health Alliance.

To be welcomed into this space; to stand alongside national advocates and change makers, felt like such a significant moment for us and for the families we support. For a long time, it hasn’t always felt like military-connected mothers were being listened to. Our experiences were often overlooked or misunderstood. So to now be included in these conversations at a national level, and to feel genuinely heard, is not only validating, but, feels personally very healing.

This wasn’t just a seat at the table, it was a sign that military-connected mother’s voices matter, and that real momentum is building. We’re proud to be part of it.

To stand side by side at such a meaningful event is something we’ll never forget.
